Dove into the vault for this 2015 shot from SoCal. Image was underexposed
by a full half-stop, but hopefully it works. Cloud line was right over my head
and it was against that gray sky that I grabbed this shot. Sun was setting
behind me to throw some night on the bird.

    Canon 500mm f/4 IS v1 + 1.4x III on EOS 7D Mark II
    1/800 at f/5.6, ISO 400

Processed in Lightroom with standard sliders. Selectively toned down a few
    bright areas on the perch.

    Cheers

sweet high-key shot Dorian, I would sharpen the bird a bit more, it looks a bit soft to me. Sweet look back from the gorgeous male.

Feather detail is a little soft but I love the bird & perch Dorian!

A very nice high-key shot with great look-back pose. Yes to a bit more sharpening.

Hi Dorian, great look back pose, and the Merlin really pops from the high key BG.

More sharpening, as requested. Anything beyond what I've done here will be beyond my LR knowledge!

    Thanks for the feedback.....

Dorian, very cool shot of this Merlin, the high key works well especially with the back pose.
The repost is better, very nice.

Hey I know this guy! Nice looking high key of this beautiful Jack Merlin. The repost looks better. He was regular for three years but he hasn't shown up for the past two years so I am worried that he might be gone or worse. Well done
