    Default Great Green Macaw Hybrid

    Attached Images Attached Images

Here is one of my favorite Macaw images from my trip to Costa Rica with Doug Brown and Greg Basco. This is a great green Macaw and Scarlet Macaw hybrid which occurs quite frequently in nature. They are very colorful and beautiful to see, especially in flight. This is one of the few frames I caught in the sunshine before it started raining. Hope you like it.

Just sick Dave. Funny enough I still have never seen this species despite being in Central and South America 5 times. This is perfect. I am sure that I have not ever seen a better Macaw in flight shot. The details, colors, wing position and light are just spectacular. Shots like this really brings the art into bird photography.
Being super picky, the only thing I would consider doing to this is burning or cloning out the dark area just behind the close wing.

The shot looks unreal - literally. Those colours seem almost unnatural but no doubt they are not. It would be hard to better this with good wing position, bird angle, head position and open bill all in great detail where it matters.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Isaac, I didn't take the time to remove it, but it did cross my mind. If I print it I probably will.
    Thanks for looking out.

what a color palette man, love the sharp details! great details. since the BG is brighter than the bird I'd personally tone it down a tad more. has the very nice tropical feel to it

    wish I was there!

Like the earlier one just wonderful. Colour combinations on this bird are magical and you got 'em.

That experience was overwhelming. Birds everywhere, wish we would have had a video of the action. You nailed this one, trying to isolate one bird from the group and having the angle and BG work out was very challenging. Great experience. The color does seem unnatural but it is true depiction of the vibrant tones.

Isaac took my word: This is Sick! I can't imagine what could make it better, the above comments notwithstanding. Simply amazing capture.

WOW! I need sunglasses for my eyes! Great vibrant colors.
    Love the IQ and sharpness.
My only suggestion would be to reduce the brightness of the background slightly.

Hi Dave, great inflight pose, but the detail on the face is simply outstanding and tack sharp. These birds certainly have various colours, and the flight pose shows them all off so well. An interesting colour to the BG, but works for me. Glad you captured this before the rains. Another fine image from you mate.

Looking at it I do think the BG could be a bit lighter. It makes the bird pop a bit more. Actually I lightened the back half of the bird a little too. Thanks for the extra set of eyes. I think I was just enamored with the killer details and I didn't think to reduce the BG brightness.

Nice pose and fantastic image detail Dave! I like the version with the toned-down BG.
