    Default Great Gray Take Off

Fortunate enough to live in an area with an abundance of nesting birds both winter and spring, so enjoy spending time with the great grays "up north."

I'd appreciate any feedback on this guy. It was shot in RAW, so I can work a little bit on it. 1/640 sec, ISO 5000 for low light, 800 mm lens, 7DII.

The sun was behind me, giving nice light, but it was still getting dark. I would have gone higher speed but don't really like going above ISO 3200 so 5000 was pretty high, but I guess the motion in the wings is OK. The face appears fairly sharp, not sure if I need to do more on it or not.

    Thank you for any feedback.

Hey Paul, You like to crop too tightly. Give the birds some room in the frame. I don't mind the wing blur. The face could use a bit more sharpening ... Remember that you can post 1920 pixels wide < 595 kb ...

    Hi Artie,

Thanks - here's another image right after this one, a little wider crop.

Much better but for the stick up the butt. Image quality is poor in part because you are posting too small. See the posting guidelines on the front page. For the repost I ran my NIK 30-30 recipe on the facial disk and a Contrast Mask on the face: Unsharp Mask 1t 15/65/0.

nice dynamic pose but the image including all reposts are very soft and noisy, when the RAW file is very soft and noisy which appears to be the case here, there is no cure unfortunately.
