Captured this beauty in Botswana. They have one of the most interesting calls. it was right in front of us at one point, and we could not believe the call was from this bird. He ducks his head a bit while making the call. He's also from 44-50 cm in length. A lifer for me. C&C welcome.

    A truly excellent shot.
You got such a clear view of him!And I love the perch with that nice curve.
In my experience, they are skulkers.
I might take a sliver off the LHS or consider a vertical.
    well done Geoffrey,
    Gail

Hello Geoffrey, what a beautiful bird you got here! I love that eye, HA and details. I agree with Gail about experimenting with different crops, the vertical suggestion may work well here. TFS.

Nice work, Geoffrey. I tried to get shots of this bird while in Africa without success - as Gail notes, skulkers. So bonus points for getting such a clean shot. Light looks great and nicely handled blacks and whites with great detail in both. I might tighten the crop a little but no big deal.

Good one, Geoffrey. As Ann and Glenn suggested, this guy didn't give us many clear looks. Good pose. I'm fine with the crop, but could imagine other versions.
