    Default Ring-necked Duck

    Attached Images Attached Images

Here is a Ring-necked Duck that I photographed while my wife and I walked our dog in Golden Gate Park this past weekend.
I must confess I don’t do much - if any - flat light shooting as I usually save those days for biking and birding. So, I hope this works.
Probably could have dropped a stop of ISO for a bit more detail, but there it is.

Processed in Lightroom. Cloned out a half dozen spots on water’s surface

    Cheers

Looks terrific Dorian, exposure and detail, and the gorgeous greens. I also like how the reflection elongates...That gold eye just poppin! Excellent

Even though their proper name is Ringneck ducks, we've always call them Ringbills in the falconry community. You can rarely see the faint ringneck but the ring bill is obvious from 100 yards away, Just makes more sense. The Drake looks great against that Beautiful green background and the exposure looks spot on. Well done.

Dorian, Nice shot of this duck, I've only seen these a couple of times here always to far out for a decent picture.
    Nice exposure, colors and angle.

Good looking low angle shot of the drake Dorion, love the soft light and the calm water. If mine I would warmer to colors just a touch to give it more life and tone down the whites on the bill a tad too

    Very nice image.
    Terrific POV.
I too, have always lamented the fact that these birds are misnamed. It should be ring-billed duck. The rust collared ring around the neck can only be seen when the neck is stretched out a bit and the light hits it in a perfect way.
    Anyway, I digress!
I agree with Arash that this could be warmed up a bit.
IQ is great and love the water.
These birds are a nightmare to expose for, because of the bright white patch on the shoulder. The soft light was your friend here. Your exposure looks excellent.

Looks good to me, Dorian. The soft light helps these guys. I really like the low POV, foreground/background water color. Let's start a movement to change their name to Ring-bills.

Everything working together here Dorian. Soft light, calm water, low pov, sharp focus, perfect exposure and the bright clear eye. Well done.
