This is one from the local harbour at the weekend. Six mergansers came into the harbour, 4 males and 2 females, and commenced doing the courtship display. Unfortunately for me they kept a good distance away. This one did come a wee bit closer. I liked the wave, and the position of the bird.

Love the wave. Perfect composition for me. Nice light. I saw two the other morning they did not come close.

Nice Image. I do love the Placement of the bird in the Frame.

Some how the eye does not look sharp to me, May be its my monitor or second catch light.

    Thanks for sharing.

Water, wave, and comp are great, but bird isn't quite there from a sharpness standpoint. Some
posterization going on in BG as well.

Although I like the overall scene and subject, this one misses the mark William. Nowhere near your normal IQ. Doesn't look like they came close enough. Better luck next time with this species.

I love the comp and the wave and the POV.
Very nice how he is "riding the wave".
I agree the head is a bit soft,

Will, the wave really makes this for me. The composition you've chosen and pose are excellent too and love that background as well. Quite a unique photo and always refreshing to see something a little different. Sharpness may be a little off but not much, I think.
