I have been having fun processing some images from this past shorebird season that I never got to. This Lesser Yellowlegs was photographed at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Queens, New York. You have to get down in the mud to get these kind of eye level shots of these guys. People may not think of feeding shorebirds as real action photography but these are the exact kinds of shots where I find that the professional cameras really excel. The 12 frames per second of the 1dx really helped to get the split second where the birds foot is out and parallel to the water while it quickly ran and hunted at close range. It just ups your chances of capturing peak action. Can't wait for this season with the mark ii and the extra frames per second.

Hi Isaac, well at this perspective, you were surely soaked in mud and water, and when you captured this frame - it was probably all worth it, every single drop of water. Great HA, good DOF, sharp, and I cant miss that crooked toe. Gotta love the upper BG too. Well captured.
Looking forward to this year's fall shorebird migration as last year was a bust up here. My favorite family of birds to photograph. Awesome low angle, just the way I like it. Of course this individual just had to have a bad toe eh!
Very nice Isaac. The bird "is really up front and personal". Commands my attention.
IQ is excellent, great POV and DOF and I LOVE the crooked toe,
Gail
Liked it when I first saw it on my phone and like it even better now that it's in my lap Definitely an in your face beautiful look at this handsome bird. The pose, details, colors, BG and the bent toe all make for a sweet image. Well done
