    Default Appreciate your help

Since it seems it wouldn't serve me to use a teleconverter on my 50-500 sigma lens, I'm now thinking of the Minolta 400 mm f/4.5 APO for my Sony alpha 100. Since I cannot yet afford the highly expensive long lenses, do you think this is a reasonable option? Would this work with teleconverters?

I appreciate all the help I receive here and I am learning a thing or two or ten.

    Thanks,
    John

It probably won't work with a reporting TC. My guess is the A100 focuses only at 5.6. If you combine a 4.5 lens with TC, you are at 6.3 or so. Could you check the manual what it says about AF and aperture?

For the life of me I cannot find anything in the manual that mentions this. Sony does however, sell a reflex 500mm f8 which they claim in their ads as the "Worlds only autofocusing 500mm f8 reflex lens" I sent an e-mail to Sony's customer service. But without the converter, what do you think of using the 400mm lens for bird photography?
    Thanks,
    John

John I would try speaking with a rep? Maybe a large Sony dealer should know !!!

Agree with Axel and I'm nervous with the 4.5 !!!
