I managed to capture this one on the loch, when the sun was low in the winter sky. These birds are winter visitors in Scotland, coming from Iceland. With the freezing, snowy weather we are getting just now, they would be better off staying in Iceland.

    Will:

The soft light is nice, background is very good, spread wings, with shadow of front bird on rear, composition, all good

On my monitor, I might tone down just a few of the whites on the lower wing of the front bird, and at base of neck.

    Very nice presentation.
    Cheers

    I really like this.
    Great "bird in habitat" image.
Love the grasses in the mid-BG and how it breaks up the distant shoreline.
Agree with Randy about the whites,
    Gail

I like this one Will. Beautiful light and a great wings open pose. The natural habitat and ice add to the scene. Agree that the whites have a couple hot spots and you might tone down the yellow a touch on the Whooper's as well.

Thanks for the comments.. Hi John, I did remove quite a bit of yellow on the swans, I thought the colour of them suited the sunset. I'll have another look at them. Thanks for that.

The light and the angle look great and it has created a very nice mood to this image. I like the wings open too. I do think the IQ is suffering a bit for the size of the comp so I would have the birds a little bit smaller in the frame to offset the IQ loss. More noticeable now with the larger posting size. Well done
