    Default Sanderling at the edge

An early morning Sanderling ( at least I think it is a Sanderling ) at the edge of the ocean. 1/2000, f6.3, auto ISO 500, 500 f4 E + 1.4III, D500, Skimmer pod.

    John:

Excellent POV, lifted foot, head angle, catchlight. Really like the hint of blue in the background, adds context to the 'story'.

    Sharp and well exposed.

    Cheers

    Yes, it is a sanderling.
Nice walking pose and great HA. Not easy to get with this little runners.
Agree with Randy that the blue in RUC really adds a lot to the image.
Whites are a bit hot on the cheek. I wonder if you can get a bit of detail back in PP. Not a big deal though.

Looking good John. I like the pose, detail and HA. Lovely BG blending with the FG sets this one off nicely.

Thank you for the feedback. It is appreciated. The are not any blown highlights in the original and there is detail on the cheek at full resolution but I pulled it down here - hoping there is more detail visible in this downsized version.

Nice low angle. Good head turn on the bird. Detail looks good.

I love em both. With the sun from behind the bird the perfect head turn towards you was critical. Well done. Not only is it a Sanderling it is a young one just starting to molt to first winter plumage ... You might consider losing the white circle behind the rear leg.
