    Default White-faced Heron

    Hi all,
Finally a cooler day for birding. Went to a local spot, but was disappointed with minimal sightings, other than crows and a few Grassbirds. However, I did manage one Heron shot. Canon 7D mk2, 100-400 lens (IS enabled) , f5.6 at 400mm, 1/200th sec, iso400.

    Hi Paul,
I like the stalking pose of the bird you caught here. The bird seems a tad soft. In this case I'd suggest shooting with a higher ISO (say at least 800) and faster shutter speed to help with this. Also the bird seems centered in the frame - a composition with more room to the right may also be an improvement.

Cool looking heron. Never heard of one until now. Like the green grasses.

Thank you Allen and John. I appreciate the feedback and suggestion regarding iso.
