    Default Dunlin

It took a bit of effort - and a lot of misses - but I finally got a Dunlin flight shot with which I am happy.
Now I need breeding plumage to match....

pretty nice Dorian, love everything, tack sharp but man I wish that far wing was raised a bit more or was fully down. this is one of those shots that's almost there but not quite perfect which gives you motivation to go back and shoot again.

WB is a bit off you should have nice warmer tones given the nice light you had and the location. it's a bit bluish, have you calibrated your monitor?

I checked out FC last weekend BTW, I didn't time the tide so the shorebirds were all a mile away!

    WOW! This is great.
Tack sharp, slight head turn our way, nice environment and the blue makes the bird pop.
I am OK with the far wing position because the near wing position is so nice.

Hi Dorian, tack sharp for sure, and what a great view of the near wing with plenty detail to scan over. The Dunlin pops nicely from your water BG, and if anything, I would move him back to the RHS a touch. Well captured.

This is very nice. These birds are really hard to capture well in flight so that makes this one extra special. I love the look of that near wing and you have a perfect head turn as well. Details look fantastic. I agree re the rear wing. Wish it was up or down and not where it was. I also agree re the white balance and would warm this up.

There are ways to fix this in PS that are not that difficult but not sure that is OK with your photo ethics. If you want to see a version with the rear wing angle altered let me know and I will post it.

This one is pretty hard to beat. The bird pops really well and the detail is really superb right down to the wing tip. Composition works well too.

Very nice. Great flight shot here. Love that blue water background.

I love the waves at the bottom. Near wing is perfect, far one so-so, but does not ruin the image. Great stuff, hope to get something like this in my files!

No it's not my monitor, it's me. In what is probably not a good habit I tend to push my images towards blue to
make the water pop in my many shorebird shots. Thanks for pointing out that I probably went to far this time!

Yeah, that's more PP and manipulation than I feel comfortable with (or that I know how to do!). I didn't even know it was possible
    to do that.

I've never done it Dorian but once you get the hang of PS it is not that hard to do things like make selections and then transform and move them. Also change perspective, etc. I fully agree that it is always preferable to get it right in the field and if not then to go back again and try some more. Although I will admit that I have a photo of a chickadee in flight that I will post soon where I deeply considered doing it to the rear wing. Ultimately I decided against it.
