Default American Kestrel On the Down Low

Found this AK on a steep slow that runs into the Bay. Light wasn't direct to face so there are some LH side shadow issues but I am happy to have got the frame and find the pose something different. Thanks for looking.
Details: D850, Sigma 500/4, 1/3200, 6.3, HH, C1P raw and PS Post (heavy weed-whacking, a decent size crop and the usual NR/SS).

that's a wicked Kestrel pose Joel, not an easy shot to pull off against this kind of BG and you did great! the shadow was a bit unfortunate but I'd take this one any day

Jay, really cool perspective on this shot, just a little wing blur to show action, head is sharp, beautiful colors and BG, as Arash said to bad about the shadow but it's a keeper.

    Hi Jay,
I like the pose and the wing blur. Sharp where it should be. Agree with you about the shadow but still a nice frame.

Great pose captured Jay!! Love the Details and BG too. To bad about the shadow on the face.
Not that it's perfect but you could darken the right and lighten the left to balance the face out. I also added a small catch light to give it a little more life once I lightened the left side.
Like I said, it's never going to be perfect, but I think it helps quite a bit and doesn't look to unnatural. Oh, I also sharpened the face only and then added saturation and contrast to it to make up for the lightening.
    Keep em coming

Love the salvage edit and the image. A unique perspective of almost eye level to slightly above, beautiful light and a background that does not distract. Great work on the edit. I would have worked on bringing up the exposure and shadows on the shade side but would not have thought to bring down the bright side to even it. Learned something new. tfs

Agree with all that has been said. Excellent in-coming flight pose but the shadow is unfortunate. Dave's repost has certainly resolved the issue.
Great BG and love the wing spread.

Hi Jay, well done for locking onto this head on shot. I like the wingspread, and Dave's repost shows this to another level. Well captured.

A real beauty Jay! I like the pose, sharpness, composition, BG and the repost looks real good.

Fab looking image Jay. Nice and sharp, love the colours and well done on getting this against that BG.

I bet you wish it had angled to the left instead to light the face, but the image is high impact, and David's edit shows that there is some rescuing possible. What a pose!
