    Default Hungry Herring Gull

This was one of the first photos I took with my first DSLR (7D) back in 2011. I was living in Boston
at the time, and I went down to Revere Beach to shoot nest Piping Plovers. As soon as I stepped
onto the sand, the greedy beast started squawking at me to feed him. I thought he was funny so
I snapped this shot. I've had it tucked away since then, so I'm glad to find an appropriate place
to finally display it. I think it shows the Herring Gull's assertive personality well.

    Thanks for looking!

Dorian, that is one hungry gull, eye is sharp, nice exposure, a bit more DOF would have helped, but definitely unique.
A fishes perspective to be sure.

    Hi Dorian,
Nice sharp eye which makes the image a keeper with that open beak. As Tim mentions, a little more DOF could have brought all the beak in focus which would help the image. Still a nice shot.

This sure has an immediate impact on the viewer- so "in your face"!
IQ is excellent and love the visible grains of sand. The clear eye is very cool.
Yes, to a bit more DOF to getting the tip of the bill sharp,
    Gail

Very nice. Love that screaming pose. Nice background.

Hi Dorian, well timed to capture the open beak of the 'hungry' Gull. I just love that eye, and it pops from the white plumage. The colour of the BG compliments the eye too. DOF already mentioned. It looks like you may have been pretty close, so stopping right down may not have helped that much anyway.

Ooh, I love this! Lots of action, and I love the eye. Gulls never cease in providing entertainment.
