IQ and detail in the blacks are wonderful.
I see so much detail n the blacks that I find myself looking for the same detail in the whites. I wonder if you could tease out a bit more out of the whites (reduce brightness selectively in that area in LR).If you have PS there are lots more ways.
Lovely diffuse light and I like your comp.
I personally find it very tricky to get a nice composition with this type of head shot.
    Well done,
    Gail

I miss these guys! Awesome details. I love the texture on the bill. Personally I would remove the few flecks under the eye. Good job overall with this portrait.

Really nice portrait. I agree with Gail that getting a bit more detail out of the whites would be great and take this over the top. Nice light and soft BG. TFS

    Hi John,
very nice portrait - great detail on the head. Agree with pulling more detail out of the whites.

Looks like if he would have stayed perfectly still it would have been a great subject to shoot a bracket or HDR on. You got great details in the blacks but it looks like you have almost no details in the whites, and I don't think they are there. Not sure if it's a overexposure thing or if they don't have any detail there.
Besides that, it's a striking image and very appealing. Well done
