    Default Male Goldeneye

This was from the same session as the female Goldeneye I posted recently. The male was a lot more wary than the female, but eventually followed her close to my position. He was constantly diving, but eventually popped up close to me for a couple of seconds before seeing me, panicking and diving away again. The very last frame of the day!

Details look great Mike with beautiful fine feather details. I love that stare. While I would normally want a slightly better sun angle to have better lighting on the beak, somehow I like the dark feeling of this. It just draws us into that crazy eye even more. Only thing I would touch is I would make the shadowed area of the edge of the neck and upper chest a little less blue.

I love everything about this amazing image and am fine with the colors and the sun angle but would love to see a bit more canvas below if you have it (which I suspect that you do not). :) Got your e-mail; will get back to you soon.

Amazing how you got so close. Seeing this bird so close, makes them look even better. Great detail and colours. Catchlight on the bill adds to the image. Perfect Mike. Well done.

    What a great last frame that was ... ; - )

A very fine image with the water drops adding to the intimacy. Beautiful background and a lot of fine details.

To me, the sparkle of the sun on the beak is a plus.

The beads of water with light shining through them are super neat, as is the sparkle on the bill. How great of this fella to come in for a close-up portrait for you!
