Amazing shot. I love the wing position and the catch light.

I see that you switched to Nikon, your thoughts on D850 ?

Hi Krishna yes I switched. I have used D850 for a few days now and I like it. The AF is really good for BIF, it's no D5 but it it's a pretty compelling package. I like the 45 Mpixels and also the 9fps with the grip. Still waiting for my 600FL to ship.

I just brought my D850 few weeks back and I really like it. I know you will take Amazing shots with it.

Looking forward to many more images from you using the same.

    Hi Arash,
I am still adjusting to the fact that you moved over to the dark side! You took amazing flight images before and I am sure you will continue to do so with the new gear.
This is a terrific shot. Love the surf in the BG as it gives a great sense of place.
Great HA and topside view. Good comp for my taste.
My only suggestion to improve this terrific flight image would be to tone down/clone the brighter white vertical "sea foam" just above and left of head,
    Gail

Awesome. I've been trying for verticals of Black-bellies in flight...they whiz past you so fast! I don't have one sharp image of one close in flight yet. I love the colors in the bird and the surf; you got the perfect sun angle along with the perfect eye to eye height; and the perfect banking pose. I may not have noticed it, but I agree with Gail that the one bit of really white foam (or maybe its a boundary marker?) above the head could be taken out or deemphasized more.

I love the shot. Glad you're having fun with the new gear. Thanks for sharing this one.

Welcome to the Dark Side Arash! The D850 looks like the ideal body for smaller birds in flight. Great AF and a high degree of cropability. Love the sea foam and great eye contact!

Great flight pose and I love seeing you post other birds. Seems I am the odd man out on this one but I know these guys have very fine feathers but the bird does not look 100% sharp to me. Maybe it is just the zoom lens as it doesn't have the kind of image quality I am used to on your shots. It looks good but not perfect to me. Is this a large crop?

Fantastic capture, and I love the banking pose, lovely light. I have to agree with Isaac though, since your switch the fine details of the shots dont look as crisp to me as before, whether that is the lens, or a change in processing I'm not sure, as the bird looks perfectly in focus, just not as bitingly sharp as I'm used to seeing from you.

Issac, I disagree but only 100%

This is one of the sharpest plover flight shots I have taken. I think a while back I posted another one and you said the same thing. Not sure what you are looking at bro... If you have a sharper or more detailed plover flight shot please post here so I can see what you think it's missing.

in fact I have many frames of this bird, they are all tack sharp and this is how the CA plover specie looks like (for those who haven't seen one)

I figured you would disagree but I just don't see what you are seeing. And unfortunately I don't have flight shots of this species. In NY, unlike Florida and other places they are impossible to get anywhere near. I have had only 1 bird in my whole life who allowed close approach in NY (was with Jake Levin and the bird never flew. It just walked right by us too close to focus on). Typically they fly when you are 200 feet away or just run down the beach really far away. Hopefully I will get one eventually.

We must be looking at different images then. I wouldn't say impossible, I have some from Florida myself. Here it's not easy here either as you have one or two passes and you have to nail it.

Whenever you get a flight shot we can compare

    cheers buddy

Black-bellied Plovers look the same all over the world This shot looks sharper to me than the other one. The whole bird looks better, from head to tail and wing tip to wing tip.

Here is a 100% unsharpened crop from RAW, I had never seen this much detail on a flying plover before and I have of many of them under my belt. Those 45 mega pixels really worked well here

    I disagree but only 100%

I have the RAW and they are both tack sharp if anything the first one has better contrast in RAW. It must be an illusion.

anyways, I hope you get some in flight soon.

If I do or don't have flight shots of this species, that really has no impact on my opinion of the first one that you posted now does it?

You are entitled to your opinion of course but I wanted to see what plover flight shot you consider sharp and what the differences were. I am saying because like I said in the past I remember I posted another tack sharp plover shot that you said was soft or something, hence I was curious.
I am the only one between us looking at the RAW and from where I am sitting the first one has a bit more punch than the second. They both look tack sharp to me, and if it doesn't to some viewers I can't do much about it. maybe it's the monitor, illusion light...not sure
