    Default flippin fish...

This was taken from a blind with a set-up.... I didn't see this with my own eyes but always a terrific surprise when you look through your images a find something you didn't know you had. I probably have been missing flips as i have never seen a kingfisher do this, totally makes sense to position it correctly, but too quick for my eye.
whites were not blown but i toned them down, toned down perch highlights, cleaned up 2nd catchlight, levels, sharpening and NR...

Beautiful shot. I like the Behavior, perch and green background.

My first though was woah. Great timing indeed. The crop works here. Nice and sharp.

Looking good Ann. Its a great feeling when you find one like this, you never knew you had. Love the pose and lovely colours on the bird. Good feather detail. Lovely BG. I would change the perch, and loose the OOF part at the front. I would try sharpening the fish a little.

    Very well done.

This is fantastic action, Ann. So lucky to get so personal with one of these. I see them while I'm birding all the time,
but they're so skittish. Blind seems the way to go.

How cool is that! I love the pose, and especially the water strand connected to the fish and bill. I'm usually not concerned about dof (except for tight portraits) but I do wish the perch was sharp as well. Still a terrific image - high impact for sure!

    Hi Ann,
My favorite bird here and a fabulous catch of it. Love the minnow being flipped up - terrific behavioral capture. Lovely BG. Maybe trimming some from the bottom would help with the oof perch. Either way this is a great action image in my book.

Love the flip! Good comp and love the fact that the fish is looking at the viewer. Great IQ. Excellent call on the SS.
I would take a bit off the bottom of the frame to minimize the perch.
I would also try to tame the white on the throat a bit.
Nice image !! Wish I had this in my portfolio!

Wow!! What a cool looking frame Ann. Love the pose and the flip of the fish. Detail colors and Bg look great but it looks a little bright on my monitor. Maybe the highlight slider to the left a bit and a little saturation on the bird. Otherwise a killer action frame. Well done
