Hello everyone ,

Here is a contribution to this months theme. I have been pretty busy of late but couldn't have missed posting for this months theme.

A bat eared fox family looking intently towards us and after a few minutes the mother ran away and the pups went inside the burrow. We left them immediately and were lucky again to find them in the afternoon but decided to observe their behaviour from a distance as the family was pretty shy in our presence and hence decided to leave them at what they were trying to do.

DPP 4.5, CS6, WB, levels, curves, selective colour, colour balance, Cropped from the top and bottom of the frame and slightly from the rhs as well, sharpening .

Canon 5D MK III, Canon 500mm f4 IS II , Bean Bag.

1/8000 sec; f/7.1; ISO 2000 ( could have easily bring down that ss by reducing the iso but was over optimistic for some playful action before realising their shy nature.)

Hi Haseeb, a nice encounter with some good DoF.

Yes, I think you were a bit 'optimistic' with regard to the SS , even with some playful antics 1/2500 would have been fine. In an ideal world, having all of them looking to camera would have been perfect, but Wildlife never is and having one looking away isn't a deal breaker for me.

The image does look flat and a tad dark, opening the image up by a third of a stop helps, ditto adding some saturation and tweaking the HSL panel, brings aa lot more life back into the fur and the environment. When did you last calibrate your monitor?

Too long, once a month, or when your monitors tell you ie after xxx of hours have elapsed

Hi Haseeb - I don't think we've had a lot of bat eared foxes posted so nice to see a different species. I agree with Steve on the techs and the need to calibrate at least every 30 days. Perhaps somewhere between your op and Steve's rp for me in terms of brightness.

I think that there is definitely better details coming out now and image looks more lively.

Of the 3 versions, I like the third version the best. It is neat that you can see the eyes of all the foxes. As usual, good suggestions from SK & RH.
