    cedar waxwing with berry.
    It would have been better to have got the whole bird in the frame but he was very close. I cropped some of the sides of the photo off but the vertical dimension is pretty much as shot. Canon Xti, sigma 170-500 lens at f7.1

    Hi Dave, you have a very pretty bird there, good head angle and nice feather detail around the face. Too bad about the tail, I usually have problems because the birds are too far away!

    HI Dave - Nice bird - lovely colours- like the action.

    I think the general rule with this is - Dont clip any part of the bird - If you have to make it a deliberate CUT. So I think I would recrop it with a delibrate CUt to make it look as though you meant to have it this way.

    I would also sharoen the eye.

    I don't mind the tail all that much since its a deliberate cut ( I think :) ) but I do have to get you for the foot !!! Clipping a foot ..... OH My God !!!!!

    Pose is good and got a reasonable bg .... soft light would have been your other good thing to have. btw these birds are difficult to make super sharp, there is something about the feathers !!!

    Wow a Cedar that is so close it doesn't all fit in the frame?!!!

    Lovely bird and the berry is a very nice touch!!!

    good looking bird!! i personally would loosen the crop a little. nice having the berry in its beek!
