    Default golden glossy bis

Taken last December in Florida as the the sun was beginning to set. This ibis was comfortable preening away atop a palm tree trunk. There were many trunks like this and slim pickins for the GBH's as they were setting up their nests and didn't have as many palm tree tops to claim... Always a fan of the iridescence. PS, sharpening, NR, cleaned up some white wash...

Hi Ann, sweet, sweet afternoon light, and in turn, the light has brought out the iridescence so well. The Ibis is tack sharp and shows up the feather detail nicely. I do like the layered BG. Well captured.

    Ann:

I like the framing, pose, soft background.

Even the stump is "less stump like" than most.

It presents very well. I might fiddle with a bit of a multiply blend mode to change the brightness balance a bit, but just personal taste.

    Nice!

To die for light here. Great background and you caught the bird in a cool pose. The image has a yellow cast that you have to deal with. All images in light like this have to be toned down, and in low light conditions have to be bumped up. The sensors just do not capture these scenes accurately.

I agree with Issac on the need to tone down the yellow here ( he has pointed it out to me as well and makes a big difference ) but overall a really pleasing image. The background colors are beautiful, good pose, sharp and detailed.

Great pose, and I also love the iridescence. Yes to toning down the yellow, and maybe the brightness just a bit (especially on the perch). But it's beautiful light and lovely background. I used to think of these birds as essentially black, but I've learned that with the right light they show a wealth of color. Nicely done.

Great light Ann. I agree the yellow should be toned downed a bit, but otherwise a superb shot.
