Default Enjoying My New Nikon Gear ...

I thought that I really sucked at flight photography. But only for 34 years. Now at least I have a chance. If you have not been following along on the blog, you can read the whole story by starting here and then reading forward.

This image was created on the morning of February 12 on Cayman Brac with the hand held Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens(at 290mm) and the Nikon D850. ISO 400: 1/1600 sec. at f/6.3 in Manual mode. AWB at 8:44am on a sunny morning with just slight edge off the sun. Center Group (grp)/Shutter Button AF.

As for the image, don't be shy; all comments are welcome.

    with love, artie

Very interesting pose here. Almost looks like the bird is falling. Looks like your new gear is treating you nicely. Have fun out there.

I love this one Artie. It is just perfect for me. Such a unique pose with those raised wings and head turn, beautiful details and that fantastic blue of the Caribbean. This has to be the best shot I have ever seen a better shot of a Brown Booby.

Pretty dawn sweet. I love the backyard and the birds pose is great. I don't think I've ever even seen a picture of one of these so this is a treat and one of the reasons I love these forums. Glad to see Nikon is treating you well -- I can't wait to read more about what settings / post work you set. TFS

Beautiful frame Artie. I like the pose and it really pops against the blue.

Hi Artie, excellent show of the extended wings, and this is tack sharp. I like the angled head, tucked in feet, and all against typical Caribbean coloured water.

    Congrats on your new toys.

Wow - It is a beautiful image. I like the raised wings head turn and tucked in feet and the separation from the blurred blue ocean background The colors really pop on my screen. Perfect control on the whites.

This is most definitely a beautiful shot Artie. I love the dreamy, distant BG; the colors in the BG and the bird; and really love that wing position, head angle, and placement in the frame.
