A nice tight portrait, and as ever the snow adds an extra layer of interest. I always find I have to take more shots than usual in these circumstances because some of the OOF snow blobs can get a little distracting. All the important parts here are clear though. Possibly worth pushing the ISO little more and getting an extra shot for the shutter speed here, I don't think going to 800 would have adversely affected the IQ and would have given you an extra bit of security for the sharpest possible file.

Plenty of detail in bot the dark fur and the snowflakes resting on the Bison - nice work

    Mike

Hi Andrew - Glad to see you decided to post an image and certainly the time off has not affected your skill. Excellent detail and control of the exposure. The falling snow adds for me. Good suggestions by Mike for techs. Looking forward to seeing more.

    Rachel

Good heavens, a blast from the past - long time no see Andrew (how many years has it been?) how have you been keeping, great to see you still shooting and the PP looks really good too.

Great to see the MKIV still delivering cool captures, love the colour and depth you achieved here, although I feel you were quite close to the subject. Like the texture and detail in both the horn and eye. Not a deal breaker, but having the white background all white may have been better.

For me the techs look spot on as you have avoided the falling snow being distracting, as the techs will dictate the overall appearance, by increasing the SS this will change the look & feel, likewise the DoF as per the same comment I made to Stu P posting.

I am very sorry to hear that Andrew, I was thinking further back and when was it our paths actually crossed, was it with Dave N and Canon EOS?

Hope things are improving and look forward, as mentioned earlier, to seeing more from you.

    All the very best.

Great news Andrew and here's to a better 2018.

FYI - not sure if Dave is still writing all the Tech stuff for Canon these days, but he's certainly involved with Sandisk now, can't believe how time has flown since then.
