I had a trip to my favourite Glen at the weekend. There was snow higher up on the mountains, which I wanted to get in the image. I drove up a track as far as I could go, then walked for a distance until I got to the snowy area. I then got down low in amongst the heather and snow, I knew the Red Grouse would be in this area. This Red Grouse, whether curious, or couldn't see me, I don't know, but I wasn't complaining, as he walked by me.

    Hi Will,
Very nice close up. Bird pops against that BG. Nice tones and sharpness on the bird.

Nice one -- you've had a really great series with these Grouse. Nice details against a good BG. Colors look great on the bird but I haven't seen one in real life either. I could see a version with more on the left and less on the right. TFS

Sounds like you were at the right place at the right time. Nice detail on the bird.

Wonderful Will, such a beautifully lighted grouse, details, and those feathers w horizontal barring are great, I like how they fade into the deeper toned ones.... And the red, wow!

Nice portrait. Good detail in the bird, and the background makes it pop.

Beautiful sharp bird, well-exposed whites, wonderful feather detail on the neck and breast, and the white portion of the background really makes him stand out. I'd spot-remove the tiny white fleck of something or other in the left corner of his eye, but that's about as minor a nit as it's possible to pick! Well done.

Hi Will, great close up, which in turn shows up the feather detail so well. Love the rich colours, and a great eye.
