    Hi all,

Another shot from NZ, from a pelagic tour off Kaikoura. It was really fun seeing all these massive birds and up close! About 15% crop, standard adjustments, light NR on BG.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 300mm f/4 with 1.4 TC
    Specs: 1/4000 ISO 1000 f/7.1

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!

    Hi Alex,
Love seeing the dorsal view of this tremendous bird. It must have been quite a sight in real life. I like the composition, detail in the blacks and overall sharpness.

that is a great look at a Royal Albatross. Love the backside view. This is probably an image I will never get as I am terrible on boats. Love the detail in the blacks and the distant mountains in the background. The whites on the back are too hot and lacking details.

Not a species we see very often. Very cool. I really like the sea in the BG, it really puts the subject into place context.

excellent topside view against a nice BG. Good details, the whites are hot and need be toned down, the details is there in RAW just have to recover it

Great looking frame, with nice detail on the bird. I agree about the whites. The BG shows the bird real good.

    Well done

Thanks all -- much appreciated. I'll take another look at the whites and bring them down a bit and get out some more detail. Isaac, funny you say that -- I thought I was okay on boats, but all the motion being amplified by the lens certainly made me feel a bit rough. I had never done a pelagic before though so it was a really awesome experience. Thanks again,
