    Default Gannet

    Hi all,

I just got back from a great trip to New Zealand and starting to work through photos now. This wasn't an exclusively bird photography trip, but I was still able to get a lot in on the South Island and had some fun sightings that I'll share in the coming weeks. I'm starting off with a Gannet from the Muriwai colony, taken on an overcast afternoon. I'm not used to preparing files this large, so the sharpening may be off here. I used 100/0.5, but not sure if that's enough at this size. Small crop, standard adjustments for me.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 300mm f/4
    Specs: 1/3200 ISO 500 f/5

Thanks for looking and commenting on prior posts!
    Alex

Sounds like you had a good trip. Good flight pose with nice detail on the bird. The sharpening looks good to me.

    Very nice Alex.
I like the comp and the water color below.
I would selectively brighten the head by about 4 points.
Sharpening looks good to me but I am on a 21.5 inch monitor,
    Gail

Thanks both, much appreciated. No problem to brighten the head a little, Best,
