    Default American Oystercatcher.

Postings of these guys have been popular lately so I might as well join in! What a bold and colourful species this is...tons of personality in these birds! This individual, photographed at Ft. Desoto North Beach, was very cooperative...repeatedly walking within minimum focussing distance from me. Even with good light fill-flash is a good idea with the Oystercatchers in order to bring good details in the blacks. I really like the crashing wave as a BG for this image:).

    Daniel,
    Beautiful image.
The foam background adds a unique feel. I like it.
    You nailed the exposure.
The only thing I noticed was a sharpening halo on the Oyster Catchers head and back.

I, too, enjoyed the close-up oystercatchers on North Beach. I'm amazed you got the ocean in the BG because they seemed to hang about in the roped-off area, unless one wandered out. I love the specular highlights in the wave. They add something different. I will post one of mine in the next few minutes.
    Congratulations on a lovely image.

I meant to comment on this one!! I'm really happy that you came away with some great images, Daniel. I knew you would. I really, really like this one. I like the angle of your subject, and the great eye contact. The breaking wave is a huge plus, adds a lot of interest to the image. All the tech stuff looks great as well.
