... this was my concern :).

I've had bad luck guessing species of late so I HOPE this is rightly called a Willet. Anyhow, one from a sequence on fly over from there to "here". Another fun day out at Martin Luther Shoreline here in N. Cal.
Details: Nikon D850 + Sigma 500/4 + 1.4, HH, 1/3200, 6.3, ISO 320, C1P raw, PS adjustments and crop, NI NR and SS on output.

Darn, your right of course - didn't pay any attention to the bill - just compared the wings to a recent Willet and thought it was right. I have some wings up and down actually but like the IQ and bkg of this one best (besides my last post which had them in the down/forward position). Thanks for the input, Arash. Hope to shoot together soon (this weekend?)...

Yes, this is a marbled godwit.
The IQ and sharpness are excellent here.
I just wish for a more dynamic wing pose ie. wings all the way up or down. I believe this pose is often called the pancake pose!
The greens in the BG look nice,
    Gail

I agree a little bit better wing position in this one would have been awsome. Still looks great though and I love the colors and details. Keep shooting you'll get a killer one soon, I can tell.
