    Default Sentry Duty

As my holiday was down at the seaside, I wasnt expecting to see any Elephants or Leopards, so I thought I would have a go at my morning with the Meerkats from the Rietvlei Nature Reserve with the higher posting size. There was a fairly sized community gathering foraging through the grass in the early morning looking for breakfast. Now and again, one would stand on top of a termite mound doing the traditional sentry duty. Since Cheetah have been introduced to the Reserve, I think they may as well be on the look out.

Hi Stu - Always good to see you posting in Wildlife. This looks very good with nice detail and rich colors. The comp and placement in frame work for me. It's not always an easy decision as to where to place the subject as they stand facing one way but then look the other. I hope to see more.

    Rachel

Like the nice green background and the alert pose of the meerkat.

This is Stunning Stu. Love the colours, details, pose and sharpness. Sweet image & well done sir! What's the larger posting size? I seem to have missed it.
Hope all well at your end.

I love the pose and the positioning of the shot, he is so alert. Looks good to me I can't think of anything to improve it.

Cracking sentry pose here Stu, in fine light with catchlight, perhaps backing off the saturation slightly but you were there.

Excellent work Stu. The detail really comes out in this larger size, esp with a fairly small-in-the-frame subject. Pose is great and lovely shaping on the body from the light and your handling of tones in PP. All nicely contrasted with a great background. No nits from me on this one.

HI Stu -- Fantastic frame and loved the pose . Nice separation from the BKG , lovely details and sharpness . I might reduce the saturation , a bit strong for my liking . TFS !

Nicely framed Stu and jealous you can shoot with a reasonable SS at a low ISO, . Just a bit too Saturated for me.
