As promised, I will try to be more active (although the studies have started for MBA year 2 already)...
This is from our amazing journey through Etosha and Namibia late in 2016. Taken on the edge of the vast Etosha pan between Namutoni and Halali camps, these 3 elephant bulls were spraying themselves with the odd-coloured Etosha mud and dusting themselves white.
As usual, I opted for a wider approach than most would here.
Signature framing and a nice conversion. The rays were one of the first parts to catch my eye, so if thy could be enhances without looking too un-natural that would be a nice bonus
Lovely image and conversion works well. I find both barren landscape and sky peppered with clouds quite dramatic. This is a scene of vast spaces and solitude, despite the presence of the three ellies - nice work Morkel:)
Hi Morkel stunning animalscape from a great location ..
What´s not to like here , love the conversion !!!! Agree with then others about the rays and emphasizing them .
Have you used the red channel to create the conversion , or have you used the red filter to create the dark sky ? However it does look very good in terms of conversion and overall tonality !!!
I love the small subjects that still allow the viewer to know what they are and how they fit into the landscape. B&W works for me.
I also admire the shafts of sun streaking diagonally across the frame.
Well done Morkel!
Morkel, it's great to see something a little different and such a nice image. The polariser has created a great looking sky and helped emphasise the shafts of sunlight. I personally wouldn't fiddle with them any further as I noticed them very quickly when first looking. Nothing wrong with a bit of subtlety in my books. The moment of capture and framing with the elephants in the positions they are is excellent too. Really lovely work and a case where the conversion has probably made this one better than the colour version.
Such a treat to see an image from my favourite wildlife photographer ! It is sublime - as always. Could the foreground (right hand side) ellie perhaps have a tiny more space to walk into?
