I am new to BPN and somewhat new to photography as well. A friend directed me to this site and I must say I am thrilled with the information and photos available to me. I was even more thrilled to see an IR thread. I have a Nikon D40X converted to IR from Lifepixel and love it. I enjoy taking pics of clouds so I thought I would go ahead and post.....please feel free to critique and give any suggestions because again I am kind of new to all of this! This shot was taken with my 18-200mm VR, at 170mm, ISO 100, f/16.:)

Big Welcome Shellie !!! Might be new to photography but do have a good eye for composition !!! like the framing might suggest a little more

Clouds look good and dramatic Can increase the contrast a bit more and they will really pop One easy way is to use the lasso toll and select the area you want to darken but before doing anything feather by 50 or more pixels. Will give you a natural result. Might wan to repeat to other areas !!! If the selection is not very large you might want to feather by less !!!

Thanks Alfred for the welcome and the tip! I can get around CS3 to do the basics, and I will try your suggestion!

Hi Shellie, I did IR before, with a regular 10D and a Hoya filter. Lots of work, so I'm looking forward to do it with the converted camera. Life Pixel did it for me, great customer service. They have an on-line tutorial on how to get the colors, I'll also research to come up with more stuff.
Thanks for your kind words :)
