    Default Hi Res Brandt's Cormorant

    Attached Images Attached Images

The Nikon D850 has a 46 MP sensor that produces huge RAW files measuring 8256 x 5504. Those pixels come in handy when posting processed frames at BPN's new maximum of 1920 pixels wide. I shot this displaying Brandt's Cormorant in La Jolla last week with my new Nikon gear. The D850 is not known for its high-ISO prowess, but I've had no major issues up to ISO 3200.

    Nikon D850, 200-500 mm @ 320 mm, f/5.6, 1/500, ISO 2000, manual exposure, hand held

    Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I like the composition and blue patch on the cormorants.

I am happy to see the image specially since I won’t be able to go to San Diego this year, I was there last year.

I heard lot of great thinks about d850 and will be getting one soon.

Krishna, are you able to scroll from side to side to see the complete image? I cannot.

nice pose Doug, glad you had fun, the details are good but the near wing shows a little bit of noise... based on the images I took I wouldn't go above ISO 1600 with this body, the extra pixels are nice though. How do you like the zoom lens?

you need to use "manage attachment" to upload your files, otherwise it wouldn't have the scroll bar on the smaller screens. on MBP laptop I just press cmd and - twice to defeat the Mac OS scaling. looks much better....

It's a really nice zoom lens with great sharpness and nice image stabilization (VR through the viewfinder is much better than that found on the Sigma 150-600).

Super image of an obviously difficult shooting situation. What great breeding plumage and behavior you have captured here! Congrats on the new gear you traitor!!! :)

Hi Doug, great timing for this behavioural pose, and excellent exposure too. I like the blue eye and blue chin, and tack sharp where it counts. I am able to scroll across to view your full image.

Once again, congrats on your new gear.

    Hi Doug,

Did you apply any noise reduction during post processing this image ?

    Thanks
    Krishna

What a stunner of a shot, Doug. The detail and sheen on the black plumage really stands out and the larger size provides for full enjoyment. That intense blue and and blue skin on the throat are wonderful too. Scrolling works fine for me. Nice to see there is a fix for this but it would be good if the scrolling worked regardless of how an image is uploaded. TFS

The exposure and details look awesome in this one Doug. Love the pose and the emerald blue eye. That 200-500 looks pretty darn sharp. Well done
