The doe looks very good and the blowing snow adds John. Nicely handed tone in the snow on the ground with a hint of form but not too dull or washed out. I only wish the background was a little softer as less intrusive and the doe is almost blending in in places.

Hi John - This is very nice. I like the sense of movement from the pose of the doe and the blowing snow. If it were mine I would bring out a bit more form and detail in the snow on the ground with a couple of luminosity masks.

Hi John, nice sighting, but as it was on the move I feel you needed to have a bit more SS 1/2000 say and as you have pushed the ISO before you know you don't need to be hesitant. Like the snow being disturbed by the legs and the slight head turn. I think you could go a tad warmer in the overall 'coat' colour, a tad more sharpening and then just apply some Curves adjustments to pullout a tad more detail in the snow, as Rachel said. It's ALL there in the original posting, I can see it no problem, you just need to emphasis it more. You can also use Highlights, Shadows, White, Clarity... too to build it up too, as it appears you had it in the original capture.

John I like your post I sense maybe a little more detail was possible, I see where Steve is heading with the repost but I sense if you adjusted your raw file you could get an image between pane 1 and pane 4, from my POV that would be rinky tinky.

The RAW would certainly provide that extra 'Rinky Tinky, Ding Dong' as you say Jon.

    Lovely capture John,

Wonderful timing here! Subject well positioned in the frame and the pose is great, nice HA too. Good choice of DoF - the Doe stands out beautifully

Nice RP from Steve in terms of colour and tonality. I take it you process your images in LR alone, maybe worth looking into PSCC, for more options?

Really enjoyed this, love the snow... err... here almost 40"C today

Thank you for sharing, have a great rest of the week,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi John , lovely capture of the moving deer .
I do like the winter setting and the falling snow adds a lot of atmosphere . Comp is working very well and i do like the overall brightness of the OP , i think Steve had good thoughts on tone and sharpness . But from my POV the RP and your RP has lost the overall winter brightness from my POV .
    Matter of taste ..
Keep them coming , a pleasure to see them in winter images.

I thought that after posting Andreas, you are right, great you picked that up.

John, I think you may have gone a fraction to far for the overall 'darken' aspect, but also I still think it requires some form of warmth.
