Default Weight Reduction 5DmarkIV+Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS USM

    Hi All ,

I currently use 5D Mark IV with Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS USM Lens on Gitzo series 3 GT3531 Carbon Fibre tripod with Wimberley Gimbal WH-200. The current weight of the entire system in Kilograms Given Below

1)5D mark IV with single battery and both memory Cards - 0.8Kg
    2)Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS USM Lens-5.6Kg
    3)Gitzo Tripod GT3531-1.86Kg
    4)Wimberley WH-200-1.4Kg
    5)Other (1.4xTC+Lenscoat+tripod support Bag etc)- 0.6Kg

    Total = 10.26 Kilograms

Currently am planning to replace the Lens foot and also the Travel lens hood which will save me 0.3Kg and looking to reduce more weight in my Kit while i travel.

Instead of suggesting me to upgrade to new lens 600mm IS II or Mirrorless etc can someone suggest few more accessories/replacements which will reduce the weight of the kit by another kilogram or so.

    Tnx in Advance.

Have you thought about switching your gimbal for a Mongoose? That would save you at least 0.7Kg plus a lot of space in the bag.

Hi Juan Fernandez I have checked the Mangoose gimbal it is a sidemount and not available in India which makes it more expensive than the Wimberley sidemount.

My only suggestions would be to look for a lighter tripod, which looking at
what B&H has, they have a few Gitzo series less than 1.86kg and replacing
the Wimberley with one of the cheaper knock offs, which again, you can find
    on B&H to compare.

With the 600? Me, I wouldn't do it. I have the old 6 and the 5D Mark IV and
I just can't see that being very stable. I'm not saying its impossible...just for
    me at least :)

    Hi Phani,
I primarily use my 1Dx and the 600mmII, but now own the 5D mark iv and so I choose to use my mongoose, its lighter even though i also own the wimberly... Also, I changed the foot to a lighter one. Im pleased!
