Dolphin smile
Thought I'd see how the new posting sizes looked - please dont say I need to shell out for a new monitor now - I've been putting it off for ages!
From late last year at Sha'ab el Erg just out of Hurghada, Egypt
Canon 1dx
Sigma 15mm fisheye
ISO 400
1/250th F11
Mike
Edit - it previewed at 1920px, but when posted has shrunk to 1200px on my old Dell monitor

Hi Mike - It's showing as 1920px when I download it. I have an affinity for dolphins so like this very much with the rich blues. Dof works well for the whole dolphin to be in focus. I might apply just a little more sharpening to the dolphin. Nice one.
TFS,
Rachel

Hi Mike another cool shot of the ever " smiling " Dolphins.
Lovely overall color and tones , crop works as presented and i like the illuminated FG and the tonal fade off in the BG . I do agree with Rachel about sharpening the dolphin a bit more .
Keep them coming , TFS Andreas

Mike, the background blues are what really struck me here first - sorry it wasn't the subject. But that looks excellent too. Detail is superb (on the full size image which I downloaded and viewed at 100%). Another very fine shot.

HI Mike -- I enjoy viewing your UW images and this one is a lovely image . Loved the details and colours , slightest of sharpening will take this up a notch . Very nicely done . TFS !

Hi Mike, I've opened this a few times, and now that the posting size has been sorted out, this is sheer brilliance. Love the eye contact, and overall, the IQ, clarity of the water, colours - all tops. Big congrats on a fine image.

Excellent work here Mike, viewed with the higher resolution/sizing, the colour, clarity and comp are a standout, one of your best IMO.

Beautiful capture Mike, superb timing, lovely colours and superb tonality, I also like the framing.
Well processed too. I gather you prefer to retain a certain "underwater look" so you do not sharpen your subjects a lot, I just feel the eye could stand out a bit more.
Enjoyed viewing, thank you so much for sharing:)
Kind regards,

Hi everyone, thanks for all the comments.
I'm getting a couple of differing comments here regarding the sharpness of the shot, and as I resize it on my screen it does appear to change slightly at different sizes - not a lot but enough to show on close examination. I was just wondering what size and style screens everyones using to see if thats consistent with the replies.
I put a comment on this thread http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...=1#post1175053 as I think the new size increase needs to be better understood by people like me who don't own a 4k monitor .
Thanks
Mike

It is awesome to see an underwater image! What a ripper man!
Well done.
May I ask what housing and strobes you use for that 1Dx?

Hi Akos, good to see you back around here
The 1dx goes into a Nauticam housing, and I have the 8.5 inch dome port for the Sigma15mm fisheye. Strobes are Sea and Sea YS-D1's that are triggered optically
Hope that makes sense - there are plenty of very good combos out there - I always preferred Subal housings but I got a great deal on this, and no complaints so far
