    Default Grey Seal with Rainbow

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi folks more recent shots are in the pipe .....that i like to share .
I had some nice drama skies during this visit , not all the time usable due to the different rules on Helgoland .But i tried my best to use the elements ....that mother nature gave me during the last visit .
This situation did not last very long , and i was not able to achieve the shots that i wanted to achieve under the given circumstances .
For the perfect shot i needed a different lens and the possibility to go close and low to the seal , but both was not possible .
So i took the chance with the given options , wonder what you think . The white spots in the sky is hail .

    F 5,6 ; Iso 640 ; 1/1000sec ; not sure if F 11 would have helped for a more detailed rainbow ? and if that would look better ?

    Processed with C1 and PSC2018 ; cropped and leveled . 85 % of FF

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

Good to see some experimentation, Andreas, even though it may not have worked out the way you intended. I'm glad you commented on the white spots in the sky. My best guess would have been some snow otherwise... but with no sign of any on the ground I would have been left confused. As for the image, I think this is one that did not appeal greatly on first view but feel it has grown after a few looks. I like the way the projected line from the rainbow points to the seal's head. For composition, I'd be tempted to take just a little off the top.

Hi Andreas -- I just loved the concept and the end result is fantastic as well . The rainbow has come out beautifully and the hail is adding to the scene as well . What a pretty sight , i would have loved to get something like this in my folders . Superbly done. The only nit for me is the seal in the BKG or is it something else ? But a bit distracting IMO.

A very beautiful image. TFS !

Hi Andreas - It seems like you certainly had some different opportunities this trip, even with the new restrictions. Love the rainbow and I don't think it needs more detail. The hail also adds a nice element. I agree about taking a little off the top. Overall, you made the most of the opportunity given the restrictions.

Like your thinking here Andreas and certainly something different. How would f/11 helped the rainbow????

Personally I'm just torn on the overall darkness and what appears to be a vignette at the top, it could well have been dark & moody, I just feel it's just a bit too much for me.

Thanks Glenn , Rachel, Haseeb and Steve for your comments , much appreciated .

Rachel & Glenn - i can take a bit off the top , will take a look and see how it does look . But will not RP

Haseeb - yes it is another seal , no chance to avoid him.

Steve - you are right it was quite dark overall and the displayed mood is quite realistic . No vignette added , just a blend mode to the sky . And a graduated mask in C1 to the sky . This in combo created the " vignetting "

I would try backing off as an alternative, or just keep it equal???

Awesome frame. Love that rainbow. Works nicely as a vertical.

Hi Andreas, this image has so many possibilities. Wonderful to have been there when the rainbow formed. Thank you for sharing.
