    I took this earlier today during my morning excursion to Sunnyvale Baylands. Here are the settings -

    Canon 40D + Sigma 50-500 F4-6.5 APO DG HSM
    ISO 400, 1/125 sec, 500mm at f6.3, exp comp. +0.33

    You got great eye contact here Indranil! The exposure looks good too. The bird could stand some additional sharpening; your lens won't produce its sharpest results wide open. I think the bird needs a little more room at the top of the frame. I would clean up the stuff in the water and the brown stuff coming out of the bird's head. Thanks for posting!

    Agree with Doug on the room !! For this type image the clean water and good soft light are a must !!! As presented would have tried waiting for a slight different pose I like what you are trying to do here !!!

    I wish you would have kept the original there for comparision sake as we can't say if your repost is better or not;). Although I did not see the first one, this image also looks a bit soft. Also could use some CW rotation as the photogrpah seems to lean towards the left. Still nice to see the feet under the water!

    Daniel, good point. I should have kept the original as it is. Here is what I had poster originally.

    Thanks for reposting the original Indranil. Good job on the water clean-up, but I prefer the colours and contrast before the touch-up :-)
