I like the composition, small in frame gives the sense scale to his environment. Soft but plausible background. Wish the bird was a bit sharper, esp. the face.
I like the concept and the soft background and even the light strip at the background but not the somewhat soft bird ... If you have more on the right I would have like the bird tucked even more into the upper left corner.

Good thinking here Dan - I think this wouldn't work as well without the strip of oof ground below as it reinforces that the bird is hunting. I see a few have commented on the bird looking a bit soft. It does just a touch to me too but suspect this could be tidied a bit in post processing or final output sharpening.
