    Daniel:

The eyes have it here! Can't get a much more intense gaze than this, strengthened by the shallow DOF, watery background. Crop works well with this image.

    Cheers

I would have centered the eyes in the frame...

Nice frame. Love the detail and those eyes. Your top 10 of 2017 is pretty awesome.

Impressive shot, Dan. The bird was clearly not aware or bothered by your presence. I like the foot visible below the water too - a nice detail that adds to that intense killer stare but glad I'm not on the receiving end of that bill. I look forward to more of your close portraits in 2018 as I like that type of shot.

Hey Dan C. I love the image and the stare. But I love the foot even more. The only thing that bugs me is the fish goo (???) on its forehead. Dan K: with the foot a major part of the image design I am betting that that is why Dan opted for the off-centered eyes ...

A unique capture for sure. I agree with Artie's take on the comp.

Thanks everyone! Artie, that foot was indeed the key factor in the off-centered eyes. I suppose a bit more canvas left, or a bit more crop right, would work as well.
