    Default First Canon Startup

Well, I decided to pull the trigger on getting my first FF SLR, a 1DX Markii.
I figured I’d start with charging the battery and making sure the firmware was up to date.
It seems that the Canon process is to move the firmware update file to the CF card (that is formatted in the camera) on the computer, and then moving the card back to the camera. My computer wouldn’t recognize the card unless I formatted it on the computer, but then a notice pops up that the card can’t be formatted.
Can someone please help me out with some direction here?
Feeling kinda dumb at the moment.

    Edit:
The card is a Delkin 256 gig udma 7. I’m guessing that it may be a newer generation and speed greater than the reader on my pc. I’ll order an appropriate reader.

Try formatting your card in the camera, then leave the card in the unit and use your transfer cable to get the upgrade file from the computer to the camera, then start the upgrade process. Might work that way. Mike

Jon, did you update the FW? follow these steps
format the card in the camera (not with PC)
then copy the FW file to the root directory on the card
insert in camera and follow the update steps

Yes I did a successful update once I upgraded my card reader. Thanks for checking.
