Beep arrived safe and sound at my place late last week, and I thought the best way to introduce him to Australia was to put him to work (no rest for the wicked!!).
He came along with myself and a colleague to help with the monitoring of some released Regent Honeyeaters (Anthochaera phrygia) in Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park in north-east Victoria. Here he is entering the park, getting familiar with the blossom of Ironbark eucalypts which the birds are foraging on at present...
...then it was time for his safety briefing (some of the monitoring is done on a roadside). He was presented with his safety vest, and was set to go. I was lucky to get him back here, everyone fell in love with him...
...and then the real fun began. Here Beep is, set up to radiotrack the birds and read any colour-band combinations on the birds. He has excellent eye sight and was more than capable at finding the birds (perhaps something to do with him being of feline origins)...
Beep is definitely a world traveller and he is hanging in quite well . Must be the good care he is getting down under. Love the image and thanks for sharing Dean.
