It's not so often we get snow in winter so I just had to get a shot of the jay, even if it was very dull. Peanuts tempted him down, the elusive shot I am after is where he tosses a large acorn skywards and catches it.

Love it Jon, the snow falling has really made it for me and the techs worked very well, just the right amount of 'diffused' clarity of snow, sets the scene & atmosphere well. Yes you could have perhaps gone for a much slower SS and a more 'open' DoF, but it all depends on what/how you wish to portray the scene. However, I think you were right to keep the SS high, as these guys are always on the move.
Have one for me with this one Jon.

Hi Jon, excellent IQ here, and I like the soft light and falling snow flakes. You have captured a good angled pose, colours look great, and overall, nice and sharp.

Soon you will be leaving that miserable weather for SA, where temps in the Kruger Park are in the high 30's.

Thanks Stu, glad you like it. I hope the weather is not quite that hot in 3rd week February!

Indeed it will be Jon. Make sure your hired car has a good aircon. It only starts cooling down in May. That region does not have a winter.

Looks great for ISO 12,800! It is a fine image on all counts. I like your choice of a perch.
