I created this image at Bonaventure Island last weekend. Most birds were nest building but a few like this one returned to the colony "empty-billed". Makes sense because eggs were starting to hatch and the nest is not kept up as much at that stage of the breeding cycle. Artie needed a nap and offered me his rig to use for the duration hence the 1D mkIII and 70-200 f4. Because of this experience I ordered the lens!
The was a very OOF bird under the right wing which I removed.

I like the symmetry of the head in this photo John. Congrats on the new lens purchase! I've got the 70-200 f/4, but I don't get to use it much in my neck of the woods. At least not for bird photography.
