Nothing flashy with this image but I am enjoying showing New Zealand birds as we don't see them posted very often on BPN.
These chicken-like birds are such characters. They are very curious birds and this guy came running up to me while I was on the beach. He looks a bit disheveled!
They are often mistaken for kiwis.Weka's are flightless birds and are related to the rail family.
This beach was absolutely pristine and I did not have to clone any debris out of the image.

Love the POV. Very nice pose, HA and detail on the bird. The raised foot adds. Lovely BG merging with the sandy FG. The rear leg and foot appear a wee bit OOF Good work and TFS, I hadn't seen one before.

Too cool it looks like a miniature chicken with big feet. Nice low angle and detail on the bird.

I remember these guys from my NZ trip years ago, with the same experience: one walked up to me as I was sitting on a rock eating my lunch. Nicely captured with great raised foot and pristine beach.

I like the low angle, IQ, composition and walking pose. Top quality as usual Gail.

Very prehistoric looking, Gail. Nice raised foot, fine detail, and I like the framing.
