Default male American Kestrel at 1200mm

Male American Kestrel. The males are smaller and more skittish than females and difficult to approach. A very long fossil length or some kind of blind of often necessary to get detailed photos of this bird. Here I used my 600II plus the 2X Extender to get a close shot of the kestrel. It was also a pleasure to meet Juan Carlos Vindas (by chance) in the field!

shot with 1DXII 600II + 2X III f/8 ISO 1600 1/3200sec hand held. processed with DPP 4.7. hope you like it.

It's a beauty! Nice pose overall, and the BG is quite appealing.

Looking real good, especially at that distance. Lovely HA, flight pose, and trailing talons. Fab colours throughout.

Details, colors and background are great. I'm not crazy about the rear wing position intersecting with the head. Would've preferred it to be more upright and clear of the head.

Really nice light, Arash. Great wing position and the muted colors in the background are awesome.

Great shot Arash. Was this Sunday? I went out to meet Juan at 6:30 but think he went into CH before me..so.. we never met up. Hope to shoot together again soon. Be well.
