Captured this image a few weeks ago at Quinta Mazatlan, south Texas. A lifer for me. C&C welcome.

    D500, Nikon 500mm f/4G + 1.4 TC, 1/3200s, f 7.1, ff @ -3.0EV, ISO 3200, Gitzo, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Removed some distracting branches in cs6.

Congrats on this lifer! It is always such a thrill to photograph a new species.
I like the sharp "wings up" position. If not too big of a crop ,I would take a chunk off the bottom of the frame.
I am not crazy about the cloudy area on the eye just below the catchlight- easy fix with a bit of eye work!
Another housekeeping issue is some cloning artifact above and to left of hummer.

Well done Geoffrey. Getting a lifer and a great photograph must be a plus. Agree with Gail for taking some from the bottom. Lovely detail and pose.

Thanks Gail. Looked at this image for too long and missed seeing the simple fixes which you pointed out. Took some off the bottom of frame.

Congratulations on getting the lifer. Nice pose. Good comments from Gail; the repost is an improvement.

I like the wing position but BG doesn't look right to my eye, it seems that it was blurred in post?
