    Taken from my back garden hide,
    Canon 5D III Canon 500mm f4 l IS II & 1.4TC III
    Manual mode 1/1600 sec f8 ISO 1000
    ACR + PSCC

    We had a little interesting light this morning so I have posted as captured.
    (There are two small specks of dust in the eye in addition to the catchlight).

    Jon I think the way you have captured this is beautiful,lovely muted natural colours,the bird itself looks spot on.

    Jon, you are getting some great visitors to your garden. This one is no exception and very nicely photographed as I know how hard these small birds are to do. Only suggestion from me on this one is to play with the composition to remove some of that OOF branch with dead leave running towards the lower right. It is distracting for me... or you could clone a fair bit of it out if that didn't conflict with your ethics as the current composition does look fairly well balanced to me. Tone, colour and detail are all up to your excellent high standard here.

    Fabulous John really well done I just love the light on the bird against the dark bkg,the copper beech works so well with the lady too
