Another image of 2 of the one year old cubs play fighting. These youngsters were able to amuse themselves as well as us for hours with their antics.

Rachel, those two are just too cute Fantastic pose and I love the title, very thoughtful.

Nice techs, perfectly framed, lovely detail. Well exposed and processed. Were the little ones aware of your presence? And how far was Mommy Bear?

I have not made a comment on colour because I have never seen this species in real life. Looks natural to me as is. You could always go for richer tones but I gather you chose to stick to what you saw at the time.

A fun frame I enjoyed so much, still smiling Thank you Rachel!

    Warmest regards,

Hi Rachel, action and youngsters, always going to catch my eye, very nice image. One little thing from my perspective is I find with the composition my eye is drawn to the dark shadowy area, want to see in there. Probably not much you can do with the 7DII to bring out more there, I suspect.

Looks very good to me, I agree the dark area is a little lacking but having said that there wouldn't be much to see would there? I could see another version with the highlights lowered a little more.

Wonderful moment captured, Rachel. I'd be happy to sit for hours too and watch them. The light does look quite difficult here and wonder if the tonal range could be flattened a little to bring up the shadowed areas but more to darken the highlights on the animals and give them a little more richness. Detail looks excellent and the composition is simple and effective. Those pesky tall stalks of grass in front of the cubs are unfortunate but probably near impossible to avoid this type of thing happening.

Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at the highlights again but I think it is unrealistic to see (or expect to see) any detail in the "shadow" area under the cubs. For me this is not really a shadow area with indirect light hitting it but rather an area that is completely blocked from the light by the solid bodies of the cubs. I would not expect to see detail on most of the area and especially not on the far limbs in the dark area.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Cute bears love the interaction. Must have been a blast shooting them.

A very 'commercial' capture here Rachel with an adorable pose of the two cubs.

The light wasn't on your side with strong contrasts on the lights & darks here Rachel, but you handled it well. There is a lot more I feel you can get from the 'coats/fur' in terms of richness, as per a previous posting you made and the comments/suggestions/feedback received. For me, I feel you were on the minimal SS, as these guys are constantly moving and so you want to really freeze the action, I would have gone straight to 1/2000 and upped the ISO a bit more.
