I was in two minds about applying NR but decided it was OK.
This snow bunting was on a local beach, luckily we found it straight away, we simply knelt down and it very obligingly stayed close. I could have taken the TC off but I didn't want to influence it unduly, it was scavenging around for grass seeds.

Very nice. I like the setting a lot with the blowing sand. DOF and POV are great. I think the noise looks good here. I like the grasses as well. TFS

I still have not been able to get a keeper of Snow Buntings. Also a day late and a dollar short...

Nice to see him in the natural surroundings and very much like the grasses in the background. Mush better than if it were just on the sand. Also like the blowing sand. Details look nice but I think overall the shot is a bit dark. Also think the head angle is not ideal.

Hi John, I just wonder if you needed a tad more DoF, as the eye looks sharp, but is the beak, can't tell at this size, just a thought?

Perhaps having the head full on to camera or side on would be better, however drop the blues as discussed and it will help. IMHO you were better off with the TC. Is this an old file revisited, as I just saw the 5DMKIII.

Hi Steve last night I was looking critically, I too had reservations over focus accuracy, I just got the 5D III only 6k shutter count £1370. This was it's first outing, need to microadjust. Also agree DOF minimal at this magnification maybe smaller aperture would have been better.
(Decided I still love my 1DX - the beast!- keeping it; 5D IV very nice but not £2k plus nicer than 5D III after all this is a back up, primarily for macro and non action shots)

OK, just saw SH 5D £2700 on Wex, personally I would have waited and gained the better body. If you had gone for the 5D4 then I might have just said try these two AFMA. If however you said you had swopped the 1DX for the 5D3 then I might have had to pop round.

Yes on reflection f/5.6 due to distance, wasn't thinking as we are heading back to see what state the house is in!!!

    Talk later.
