    Nicki,
This is an awesome image. Sharp detail on the bird and the OOF bg. Nice Bokeh. I absolutely love the effects of the 100-400. This image is no exception. Wonderful job.

To be honest I rather like the bird with the blue cast, looks great with that BG, probably not quite proper tho'.

    Love the post!

    Hi Nicki,
I like the composition; it has sharp details...I would have liked to have seen a bit more rotation of the head towards you... But lets just say that he is looking at his surroundings...:D There is a blue over cast...the background looks great...:D

What did you do in post? Was the bird in some shadow maybe?I know mammal fur, ok squirrel fur, goes blue in shadow and I need to warm it up just a bit.

Great capture Nicki, could it be that the white balance on your camera was set to a cooler setting? like fluorescent or tungsten, or maybe in the processing?
Anyhow, you most definite get a hold of the South Florida group next time you visit, we would love to meet you and go do some bird shooting.

Hi Nicki Not sure how that bird ended up blue? They are black !!

Not sure I like this particular crop selection You can have birds looking away and working but there is so little canvas in the direction he is looking it doesn't work for me here !!! Will get the birds ready for you next year !!! :)

.Hi Guys, many thanks for the suggestions. No, the bird wasn't in shadow and my white balance was set to auto. I can only think that perhaps I over saturated somehow...chalk it up to experience I guess...

hi nicki! you can color balance the photo to eliminate the bluish cast. just reduce the blue channel a little.
